Key Features of the DataFRAME SAN:
DataFRAME440 3U 8TB Storage Unit―The DataFRAME 440 SAN server is based on industry standard open architecture Intel server chassis. Its 3U storage enclosure provides up to 8TB of raw storage through 16 hot swap drives supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, and 50.
Performance Progressive Scalability―Unlike traditional FC SAN configurations performance bottlenecks are eliminated. Additional DataFRAME SAN storage modules added to a configuration will incrementally add processor, cache, memory, and IP throughput capacity to the SAN. Storage scalability on the DataFRAME SAN SAN indefinite; easily supporting multi-petabyte architectures.
Price―Based on current competitive comparisons, the DataFRAME SAN can provide equal or greater capacity and performance for approximately 75% less cost than traditional FC SANs for Tier 1 storage, and 50% less cost for Tier 2. As an alternative to Tier 3 tape storage, the DataFRAME SAN provides exceptionally faster performance and DR cycle time for lower cost when compared with tape.
Total Cost of Ownership Reduction―Because the DataFRAME SAN can utilize existing Ethernet infrastructure, startup/expansion costs are greatly reduced. Significant cost savings can also be realized by utilizing existing Ethernet administration expertise and through the lower cost of Ethernet network hardware vs. Fiber Channel. Furthermore, the DataFRAME SAN provides long-term viability with a strong Ethernet roadmap and the emerging 10Gb Ethernet standard.
Powerful SAN Management Capabilities―Powerful GUI SAN management administration supporting Windows, Unix, and Solaris platforms. Unparalleled ability to reconfigure volumes, reassign and relocate storage units without interruption to network productivity.
Dynamic Volume Expansion―Volumes may be expanded or contracted for optimizing current capacity needs. Volumes can be expanded seamlessly without impacting application or data availability. Volumes span all storage units within the system and auto populate across added DataFRAME SAN servers.
Enterprise Clustering and Virtualization―Automatic clustering between multiple units. RAID on the hard drives and between storage systems.
Configurable Snapshots―Automatic snapshots at timed intervals back up volumes of any size.
Disaster Recovery―Volumes can be easily and automatically replicated via LAN or WAN. Unlike many traditional FC SANs, remote replication does not necessitate identical hardware configuration for both sites.
Thin Provisioning―MPC provides the easiest management tools available in the industry for dedicating storage-capacity-on-write to reduce unused storage overhead.
Platform and Operating Environment Agnostic―The DataFRAME SAN offers up to six gigabit Ethernet links per module and 2GB FC interfaces thereby providing the ability to be implemented alongside an existing FC SAN. The DataFRAME SAN is NOS agnostic to provide the utmost in versatility and cross-platform SAN service.
